Relative charged after child brings gun to school

Richmond Police Department investigators have charged a student’s family member following the student bringing a firearm to an elementary school last week.

At approximately 2:56 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, officers were called to Oak Grove/Bellemeade Elementary School, located at 2409 Webber Avenue, for the report of a firearm on school property.

Officers arrived and staff at the school reported they were made aware of a juvenile student who had been in possession of a firearm in the school. Richmond Public School staff members located the firearm and turned it over to RPD officers. Officers found ammunition in the magazine of the handgun. There were no injuries.

Today, investigators charged the student’s family member, Cornelius Robinson, 59, of Richmond, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. No booking photo is available.
