Meet at Fonticello Park from 5.30-6.30PM at the flat esplanade on 29th and Porter Streets

All of Southside Yoga’s community classes are “pay what you want/can if you want/can do it, if not you are welcome to practice in community anyways.”

Kick-off the annual Project Clean Stream weekend with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay on Friday, April 12 with a stream clean-up event at Crooked Branch Ravine Park. We’ll gather at the entrance to the park at the end of Northrup Street starting at 2 pm, before splitting up to collect litter along the trails and stream within the park.

What is provided: Gloves, trash bags, trash pickers, water and snacks will all be provided.

What to bring: A reusable water bottle, sturdy walking shoes (closed toed preferred), and sun protection.

Rain or shine?: The event will be canceled in the case of rain.

Parking: Street parking along Northrup Street and surrounding neighborhood. Please be respectful of residents.

Come out to Benchtop for a Book Fair with Fountain Bookstore!

Get a chance to meet local authors. Purchase you next favorite book, grab beer, and a seat in Benchtop’s taproom to start reading. All ages welcome as well as well-behaved/leashed dogs too! Food and drinks purchased separately.

Carnival food, music, and a good time

Help pick up trash, mulch, and beautify the WHES grounds.

Pull up to our Forest Hill taproom on April 16th from 5-9 for a night of creativity and community hosted by The Veil’s Creative Director, Tim Skirven! Stretch your creative muscle in this low-pressure art zone… We’ll provide the pens and paper, still life setups, and conversation… all you have to do is loosen up with your drink of choice! Love comic books, graphic novels, and/or manga? Want to try your hand at making your own? Come to the Hull Street Library, as we try to create our own, while reading and discussing some of the latest comics.

Tyler and Monty host a weekly open mic comedy night 8-10pm every Wednesday in the backroom at Basic City RVA. Select beers are half priced for the show.

Master Gardeners will be out in the library, eager to answer any of your gardening questions. They will have soil sample kits and other helpful resources for you. Look for their desk!

April 22nd is Earth Day! Learn about the nature that exists right in our backyards as we take a little field trip around our library, which includes a rain garden thanks to the James River Association. Broad Rock Library

We had such success with our Sober Happy Hour that we are bringing it back on a regular basis! Come out every 3rd Thursday 5-7PM, we’ll have lots of NA options for you!

Fonticello Playground on West 29th Street

I hope you can join us for a sweet treat on Thursday, April 18 at 5:30pm at Fonticello Park near the Markiya Simone Dickson Imagination Zone playground for Ruby Scoops.
We have invited city departments to also hand out information at tables during the event.
There are a few picnic tables but bring a chair with you to watch the kids running around and visiting with neighbors!
