An Evening of Traditional Celtic Music with Matthew O’Donnell

Sat May 4 8:00PM

Richmond Folk Music at Congregation Or Ami has a real treat in store for Saturday, May 4th – a rip roaring evening of traditional Celtic music by “The Blue Ridge Bard”, Matthew O’Donnell!

This is a unique opportunity to experience an accomplished performer and superb traditional musician in one of the friendliest and best listening rooms in RVA.

Matthew brings a modern energy to traditional drinking songs, sea shanties, Irish jigs & reels, and timeless folk favorites. A typical live show sees Matthew switching between the accordion, bouzouki, cittern, guitar, banjo, fiddle, bodhran and tin whistle as he roars out singable choruses to the rhythm of kick drum and tambourine (played with his feet!). Of course, the Celtic traditions blend with Americana – making this a true evening of roots music.

Matthew not only sings the songs – he has immersed himself in the world of traditional music, researching and uncovering hidden gems which he incorporates into his extensive repertoire. He genuinely loves the music, and communicates that enthusiasm to his audience. We guarantee that you’ll be clapping your hands, stomping your feet, and belting out the choruses!

We’ll put the coffee on for you!

Tickets are $10.00 in advance, $12.00 at the door. The concert begins at 8:00, doors open at 7:30. Light refreshments will be available. Congregation Or Ami, located at 9400 Huguenot Road, Richmond, VA is accessible to all, and there is plenty of free parking.
