School Board to set new Chair this Monday?
The Richmond School Board will meet this Monday, July 1 at 6PM at City Hall. The meeting will also be streamed live on the RPS Youtube channel.
The agenda for the meeting includes an update on Richmond High School for the Arts construction, an update on summer school, the first read of the collective bargaining agreement for School-Based Office Associates, receiving for action Arthur Ashe Property agreement, receiving for first read contracts over $100k, receive for action Board travel and district activity requests, reports from Board Members attending committee meetings and conferences, and other seemingly standard School Board things.
It also sounds like 5th District representative Stephanie Rizzi will be asked to relinquish the position as Chair of the School Board. Rizzi was elected to the position 7-2 by the Board in January 2023.
Rizzi replaced 6th District School Board representative Dr. Shonda Harris-Muhammed, herself often the center of controversy and described at the time as not a “true leader”. Rizzi and Harris-Muhammed most recently bumped heads over the misuse of overtime pay for bus drivers.
