Bike lanes for Hopkins Road, road diet for Hull Street

The City of Richmond is looking for your input on four projects to improve safety on the High Injury Network:

  1. Reconfiguration and Bike Lanes on Franklin Street
  2. Reconfiguration and Bike Lanes on Hopkins Road
  3. Reconfiguration and Bike Lanes on W Leigh St
  4. Reconfiguration on Hull St

This is part of the city’s commitment to Vision Zero, described as “a multidisciplinary strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for everyone.”

The proposed design for Hull Street changes the the existing four-lane road to two travel lanes (one per direction) with a median, on-street parking, and “enhanced multimodal accommodations.”

For Hopkins Road, the plan is for a roadway conversion incorporating bicycle accommodations within the existing public right-of-way from Collier Hill Road at the county line to Richmond Highway (US 301).

ABOVE: Hopkins will lose a lane of traffic, gain bike lanes
TOP: Hull Street will gain parking, lose a lane of traffic
