Nothing found after alert about possible weapon at River City Middle School
From the RPD:
River City Middle School Investigation
This morning at approximately 8:53 a.m., RPS notified the Richmond Police Department of a possible threat to River City Middle School, after a bus driver relayed a concern that a student may have had a firearm. The Richmond Police Department immediately coordinated efforts with RPS on this investigation.
Out of an abundance of caution, RPD officers, K9 Units from Chesterfield Sheriff’s Department, Petersburg Police Department, and Virginia State Police conducted a sweep for weapons throughout the school. During the investigation, the school remained on a Lock and Teach.
A thorough investigation was completed, but no firearms were recovered. The Lock and Teach has since been lifted.
RPD encourages residents to continue to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately.
