New operator and bikes for RVA BIKE SHARE?

It seems there is new life for RVA BIKE SHARE under what appears to be a new operating agreement with Drop Mobility. The city’s beleaguered bike share program posted a few days ago on Instagram that “Bikeshare’s back, alright! We’re back and better than ever with our new operator @dropmobility!!” and to “Stay tuned for more exciting news!”

Recent help wanted adverts for bike mechanics says that “We will soon be deploying e-bikes in Richmond, VA and providing opportunities for a local team to help tackle our generation’s biggest challenges around climate change and mobility.”

Drop Mobility operates in more that fifty North American municipalities, including Albany, New Orleans, and Kansas City, MO.

Prior to the first pause in the bike share service, expansion to Westover Hill Library and Forest Hill Park were announced in early 2022 but never materialized.
