Oak Grove / Hillside / Bellemeade Community Plan Meeting on January 30

Come out to La Diff at 1011 Commerce Road on Thursday, January 30, from 6-7:30 for a community plan meeting to review the new matrix and revised strategies of the Oak Grove/Hillside/Bellemeade Small Area Plan.

The 58-page Oak Grove Hillside Bellemeade Community Plan (PDF) outlines strategies to direct growth for the residential communities just south of Manchester and Blackwell as the development and gentrification pressure marches south down the Richmond Highway commercial corridor.

Work in the plan began in late 2022. Meetings, walking tours, and workshops of all kinds took place up through summer 2024, and the plan was adopted in December 2024. The OGHB plan emphasizes rezoning, maintaining safety and cleanliness, working to attract retail, and prioritizing long-term residents.

The plan is a fascinating profile of the area today, and includes the history and demographics of the area, educational attainment, existing land use and zoning, housing and home ownership data.

Come out in person on January 30 to find out more, and watch over the next few years to see how this plays out in real space.
