Man shot to death on Southlawn Avenue

Clayton Wyatt, 39, was shot to death late last night in the 1700 block of Southlawn Avenue. This is the 4th killing in South Richmond this year; there were 3 at this time in 2024 and 5 in 2023

Victim Identified in Southlawn Avenue Homicide Investigation

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred on Southlawn Avenue as Clayton Wyatt, 39, of Richmond.

Last night at approximately 11:54 p.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of Southlawn Avenue for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Wyatt, down on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
