Hull Street cleanup set for February

Jan 9, 2024 | by

Keep Virginia Cozy has a Manchester cleanup scheduled for February:

Come join us in Manchester as we celebrate Black History Month the most cozy way we know how — with a neighborhood cleanup!

We’ll be cleaning up Hull Street & the area in Shockoe Bottom where the Slave Trail ended. The Slave Trail chronicles the history of the trade of enslaved Africans from Africa to Virginia until 1775, and away from Virginia, especially Richmond, to other locations in the Americas until 1865.

Last year we held our BHM cleanup in Jackson Ward, at the site of the Black History Museum, and this year we are going to some different areas of town that play significant roles in the African American history of our town.

Each February we do the best we can to honor Black History Month. We strive to honor the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who helped shape our nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are an indelible part of our country’s history.

Join us this year for our cozy cleanup and our after hangout event @hatchlocalfoodhall
