BLACK CARD ABSTRACTED at Southside Contemporary
BLACK CARD ABSTRACTED opened last night and runs through March 2 at Southside Contemporary:
Southside Contemporary welcomes you to join us for our upcoming group exhibit and first exhibit of the 2024 new year! This group exhibit integrates and correlates select works from seven artists hailing from within the VA region, while extending to destinations such as Newark and Detroit. This intersection provides a special context for discussing elements of Blackness, especially within the arts.
Blackness as a culture remains an integrative, multifaceted, and constantly evolving framework. The cultural structure positions itself between history, current context, and future directions. It echoes the voices and truths of those consciously and unconsciously involved within these cultural bounds. Through this exhibit, we engage this subject through the works of select artists synchronizing active discussions regarding various themes with an overarching focus on navigating the intersections, dynamics, and complexity of Black culture and identity.
