Speed cameras will really get going on March 18
As part of the city’s ongoing efforts to better manage speeding in school zones & on Richmond streets, safety cameras are active at Linwood Holton & Patrick Henry. Starting March 18, speeders in these school zones will begin receiving summonses in the mail
The cameras are active from 7:15-9:15AM and 2:15-4:15PM.
Warnings will be issued until March 17, after that citations will start being issued for drivers going at least 11 miles per hour above the limit.
Within the first 30 days of the first violation, there is a $50 civil penalty. For all violations after the first 30 days after the first violation, the penalty is $100.
Linwood Holton ES and Patrick Henry are the pilot schools. The plan is to step the program to 6 and then 13 schools across the city, including eventually River City Middle, Swansboro Elementary, Richmond Technical School for the Arts, Huguenot High, Boushall Middle, Blackwell Elementary, and Westover Hills Elementary.
