The new cameras prove that people are speeding their asses off on Semmes Avenue
Axios is reporting that the 2 speed enforcement cameras installed by Linwood Holton ES and Patrick Henry are generating an average of 176 speeding tickets a day – and that’s only being in use four hours a day, five days a week.
And remember – to get a ticket, the driver has to be going at least 11 miles per hour above the limit. This is nuts.
Speed cameras may or may not be effective enforcement, but that is a hell of a data point.
Linwood Holton ES and Patrick Henry are the pilot schools. The plan is to step the program to 6 and then 13 schools across the city, including eventually River City Middle, Swansboro Elementary, Richmond Technical School for the Arts, Huguenot High, Boushall Middle, Blackwell Elementary, and Westover Hills Elementary.
Nothing we haven’t known on Semmes for decades. Getting the city to do something substantive about it has been impossible
How about they actually narrow the road and design it to slow people down then?
Do we know if Richmond Technical School for the arts is going to have it installed on Midlothian or Crutchfield? Because having it on Midlothian would create so much revenue…
Great idea. It’s high time to do something on Janke road. The road is unsafe due to speedy bad drivers arrogant at that.
At $250.00/per, what does the city do with this “cash-cow”?
They need to set on the corner of Forest View Drive and Schette St. I live on Forest View and people just fly down my street like it’s nothing. We need a speed bump or something here . It’s not safe for children or your animals if they get out of your yard . People use it as a cut though street . Even people who live In the neighborhood fly through here . It’s crazy .
