Ethiopian Orthodox Easter Buffet at Nile Kitchen

Nile Kitchen is hosting Fasika Meal – Ethiopian Easter Buffet on May 5th at their spot at Hatch Kitchen Cafe. Tickets are $35, with time slots open at noon and 4PM.

From Nile Kitchen:

Come join us Sunday, May 5th to experience a meal of how Ethiopian Orthodox Christians traditionally break the longest fasting period of the year, after a strict vegan diet for 55 days. Chicken and lamb are the highlights for this simple yet flavorful meal. Choose between two options of 12-2pm or 4-6pm held at Hatch Kitchen’s Cafe.

With Orthodox Easter on May 5th, millions of followers will be breaking bread after a long midnight mass commemorating the end of the Lenten fast. Doro Wat would be the main dish to break the fast along with a side of farmers cheese or yogurt. This happens when the church goers come back home around 3:30 or so. It sounds odd to eat at such a time, but it is practiced by most households. Easter Sunday, lamb will be slaughtered and a lot of other preparations take place to welcome family members and feast.

We invite you all for a memorable time to gather with family, friends and perhaps meet some new people who also share a curiosity for new experiences.
