Improvements planned for Hobby Hill, Westbury Lake, and Cherokee Dams

Recent increases in dam safety regulations by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation has required the city to bring Hobby Hill, Westbury Lake, and Cherokee Dams to compliance. The Department of Public Utilities has began this process, with meetings with area property owners and civic associations in 2023. It is estimated that the projects may take up to 2 years due to the scope of work involved.
