Man shot to death on Edwards Avenue

A man was shot to death this afternoon on the 1600 block of Edwards Avenue.

This killing is the 5th in South Richmond in 2024; last year at this time there had been 17 homicides.

From the RPD:

Today at approximately 1:27 p.m., officers were called to the 1600 block of Edwards Avenue for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male down and unresponsive inside a residence. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and information.
