From the press release:

Nature and art collide in Writing the Land: Virginia, a newly published poetry anthology that showcases the vast and exquisite beauty of Virginia through the collaboration of environmental organizations or indigenous tribes and poets and artists from across the Commonwealth.

In celebration of the book’s release, featured organizations, Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) and Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR), will host an evening of readings and conversation with two of the featured poets, Joanna Lee (Richmond’s new Poet Laureate) and Gwyn RC Moses. “Summer Stanzas” will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Basic City Beer Co. in Richmond’s Manchester at 212 West 6th Street Richmond, VA 23224.

Through their poetry, Lee and Moses will take guests on a trip to some of the natural and historic lands in Richmond and the Tri-Cities that have been conserved by CRLC and FOLAR.

The event is free but registration is encouraged, and walk-ups are welcome.

Copies of Writing the Land: Virginia will be available for purchase and signing to support Capital Region Land Conservancy and Friends of the Lower Appomattox River’s critical work to protect the land and places that we all love in the Richmond region and Tri-Cities.
