Street naming ceremony for August Moon this Saturday

There will be an Honorary Street Naming Unveiling Ceremony commemorating the designation of the corner of West 12th Street and Hull Street in honor of the late August Moon this Saturday, August 3 at 10AM hosted by Councilmember Ellen Robertson.
Born in 1937 in Blackwell as Alexander Randolph, August Moon was an American R&B under the names Mr. Wiggles, Little Red, Dickie Diamond, Donald Ruffin, Diamond Duxx Dixie, and also a songwriter, producer, label owner, and community activist. Moon was known as “Mayor of Hull Street” for his support of the Blackwell neighborhood.
Moon died at age 85 on July 12, 2023, and is buried in Maury Cemetery.
