Man arrested in July killing on German School Road

Harry Hunter, Jr., 46, of Richmond has been arrested in the July killing of George Phillips on German School Road.

Through August 13, there have been 9 killings in South Richmond this year; last year at this time there had been 21.

Richmond Police detectives on Friday made an arrest in connection to a homicide that occurred on German School Road in July.

Detectives arrested Harry Hunter, Jr., 46, of Richmond, and have charged him with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a murder. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 6:50 a.m., Sunday, July 14, officers were called to the 1000 block of German School Road for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found an adult male, George Phillips, Jr., 56, of Powhatan, down in the roadway. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
