Motorcyclist dead in Semmes Avenue crash

Richmond Police detectives have identified the motorcyclist involved in the fatal collision on the 2200 block of Semmes Avenue this afternoon as Merquan Robinson, 30, of Quinton, Virginia.

From the RPD:

Today at approximately 1:05 p.m., Robinson was traveling westbound in the 2200 block of Semmes Avenue when he lost control of the motorcycle, collided with a power pole in the median of the roadway and crashed in the westbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RPD Crash Team responded, interviewed witnesses, and took measurements of the area of the crash. Both directions of Semmes Avenue were closed for the investigation. Semmes Avenue is now open.
