Public meeting set to review concepts for Mayo Bridge
The Virginia Department of Transporation (VDOT) will hold a public meeting concerning the Mayo Bridge Replacement project on Tuesday, September 17, from 5-7 PM at the Plan RVA Office at 424 Hull Street, Suite 300.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting where they will have the opportunity to review concepts for replacing the Mayo Bridge. Concepts include various approaches to increase safety, accessibility, and ridership for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
There were 1310 responses to a public survey held May 9 through June 9, 2024, on the replacement of the Mayo Bridge. You can see the results HERE.
The Mayo Bridge Replacement project page at VDOT shows 3 concepts that vary in the number of lanes of vehicular traffic, sidewalk width, and the inclusion of a protected recreation area. All designs show some kind of a bike lane for a portion of the bridge, but not end-to-end.
