Updated design for Westover Park

Sep 10, 2024 | by

The School Board last night agreed to transfer the field space behind Westover Hill Elementary School to Parks and Rec towards the creation of the new Westover Park.

A Conceptual Review Document apparently from the 9/5 Urban Design Committee meeting has the most recent design for the new Westover Park. The design shows a return to basketball courts at the previous location, a pedestrian promenade and multi-use trail, handball courts, pickleball courts, tennis courts, a baseball field, a multi use field (soccer/football/etc), and a skate/BMX area.

The project is scheduled to go out for bid in early 2025.

  1. In New Kent, our dog park is next to our courts and we havn’t had issues. However, you may need more space for parking, and they might wanna make those tennis and handball courts dual-use–easily convertible to pickleball when needed.

  2. In that vein, the park tennis courts at n.Thompson and Patterson have been mold filthy forever, can the city clean them up?
