  1. Safer road design is the answer, not a road that can comfortably handle 55mph or more. Narrow the lanes and have more hard medians.

    Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Collision on Midlothian Turnpike

    The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred on Midlothian Turnpike.

    On Wednesday at approximately 5:29 a.m., officers were called to the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of an SUV that struck a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found the female pedestrian, Tomorrow Brooks, 42, of Richmond, down and unresponsive in a westbound lane of Midlothian Turnpike. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene to investigate and have determined that Brooks was attempting to make a mid-block crossing from the north side of the street to the south side of the street when she was struck. The driver of the vehicle was traveling west in the center lane when the vehicle struck Brooks. The driver remained on the scene. At this time, no charges have been filed. The investigation continues.

    The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
