Man shot to death on Richmond Highway

A man was shot to death this afternoon on the 3600 block of Richmond Highway. This is the 17th killing in South Richmond this year; last year at this time there had been 30.

From the Richmond Police:

Today at approximately 1:21 p.m., officers were called to the 3600 block of Richmond Highway for the report of a robbery that was upgraded to a shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult male down on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
