The Belmont Pantry is a weekly food giveaway held every Friday from 9AM-1PM at Belmont UMC at 3510 Broad Rock Boulevard that serves nearly 1,600 families every month.

Part of Central Virginia’s Food Bank network, the Belmont Pantry is funded by Belmont UMC members, partner churches, UMC Conference and District mission funds, small grants and in-kind donations.

Local groceries provide in-kind food donations valued at $300,000 annually. The Pantry also receive set-aside produce, deli, meat, bread, and sweets by Kroger, Fresh Market, Walmart, and Food Lion. When the there isn’t enough donated food to meet demand, food is purchased from FeedMore at a discounted price.

Want to help? You can donate items in person Thursday 10AM-noon and Friday 9AM-1PM at Belmont UMC, and at Westover Hills UMC at 1705 Westover Hills Boulevard to the church office Mon-Thu between 9AM-3PM and Sundays during the 10AM worship service. (Check the list to help make the most impact.)

You can also contribute directly with a one-time or recurring monetary donation.

The Panty is supported by a small team of part time staff and more than 50 volunteers who pack and serve weekly bags. They have openings for volunteers, including drivers of at least 25 years of age for daily food pickups, and Spanish speaking volunteers for Fridays. (Sign up here.)
