Man stabbed to death on Walmsley Boulevard

A man was stabbed to death this past Saturday on the 3000 block of Walmsley Boulevard, marking the first killing of 2024 on this side of the river.

From the Richmond Police Department:

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of the homicide on Walmsley Boulevard that occurred on Saturday as Augusto Avalos, 23, of Richmond.

At approximately 11:25 p.m., February 3, officers were called to the 3000 block of Walmsley Boulevard for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Avalos, inside of a residence down on the floor unresponsive. He had sustained a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
