Page not running for re-election to 8th District School Board seat

8th District School Board Representative Dawn Page shared this morning in an email that she is not running for re-election this cycle:

Hello 8th District Family,

As 2024 approaches, I wanted to give you an update. We have accomplished so much in my 12 years of service as your School Board Representative: Achieving 100% full accreditation, building 8 schools, renewing our focus on athletics, reinstating our Auditor, and serving as Chair and Vice Chair of the School Board.

When we started this journey, I set out to make sure every student was provided quality educational opportunities. I believe we made significant strides in accomplishing that goal and there still remains more work to do. But after much soul searching, I have decided I will not seek re-election.

Even though my time has come to an end, I remain optimistic about the future of RPS and that a new leader will emerge to ensure our kids receive the best education possible. While I may be leaving office, my work continues on. I will always fight for our children, no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they look like. It has truly been the honor of my life to serve as your School Board Representative and I thank you for entrusting me with this awesome responsibility.

Respectfully,

Dawn C. Page
8th District School Board Representative
Richmond Public Schools

Emmett Johnson Jafari and PH “Cruz” Sherman have announced their intent to run for the now open seat.
