Hilliard calls for Floyd to exit race, investigation into campaign and tenure as liaison

Flanked by supporters at a press conference today at Gold Lion, 6th District City Council candidate Willie Hilliard called for Tavares Floyd to drop of the race and for an investigation into both Floyd’s campaign and his time working as incumber representative Ellen Robertson‘s liaison.

This comes after a week of steady reports that Floyd may have misrepresented his campaign contributions, is not a licensed attorney nor a funeral home owner as claimed, is not apparently related to George Floyd, and looks to have wrongly filed for travel reimbursement while serving on Family and Children’s Trust Fund of Virginia.

Responding to what Alexsis Rodgers called Floyd’s “web of lies”, the Hilliard campaign has issued a FOIA request (PDF) into Floyd’s employment with the city as 6th District liaison, citing the “seriousness of these allegations” and alleging that the administration has asked to have Floyd removed from the position 2 years ago.
